Etape Loch Ness

Usually scheduled around the third weekend of April this cycle sportive takes riders on a full circuit around the iconic Loch Ness with the car park in Invermoriston being utilised as a halfway point refreshment stop on the 66 mile (106 km) route on traffic-free public roads.

The closed-road route around the loch starts and finishes in the Highland capital of Inverness, offering 900 m of ascent. There is a timed King of the Mountain stage, with a 4.8 mile (9 km) climb gaining 380 m in height with a gradient reaching 12% at times.

With more than 5,000 entrants commonly taking part this challenging event provides an incredible opportunity for both cyclists and spectators to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the thrills of this amazing ride through this iconic landscape.

Wet West Paddlefest

Wet West Paddlefest is an annual two-day gathering of dedicated kayaking enthusiasts who flock to both Glenmoriston and Glengarry over an action packed and fun filled weekend of thrilling white-water challenges.

Usually taking place around the third weekend of September, the River Moriston is heavily featured in this event as one of the best regarded kayaking rivers in the UK and there's no mistaking when the Wet West Paddlefest crew are in town!

Millennium Hall Hogmanay Ceilidh

Hogmanay (New Year) celebrations in Scotland are legendary around the world and there is nothing more traditional than a rousing Ceilidh (Scottish music and dancing) to see out the old and bring in the new.

The Hogmanay Ceilidh that takes place at Glenmoriston Millennium Hall is always a well attended event that is sure to start the year off with a smile.

Great Glen Challenge (On Water)

The water-borne version of The Great Glen Challenge takes place in September and sees competitors paddling a whole range of self-propelled craft, such as canoes, kayaks and paddleboards along the length of The Great Glen, from Fort William to Inverness, completing the 57 mile journey either non-stop, or over two days, depending on their preference.

The route takes entrants along the Caledonian Canal and the full length of three separate lochs (Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and Loch Ness) passing by Invermoriston shortly after the overnight stopping point at Fort Augustus.

Great Glen Challenge (On Land)

Started in 2019, the land-based Great Glen Challenge is organised by, and takes place in support of, Parkinson's UK and sees entrants walking the northern portion of The Great Glen Way, starting at Invermoriston and finishing in Inverness.

For those preferring not to walk the full 33 mile route there is a choice of two shorter walks following the same route but finishing at either 14.2 or 30.5 miles instead.

Loch Ness 360 Challenge

Loch Ness. One of the most famous freshwater lakes on the planet and for good reason. Many good reasons, in fact, including the jaw-dropping scenery that surrounds it on all sides that gives the iconic loch an unrivaled setting in Scotland's magnificent Highland landscape.

Taking place around the circumference of this incredible and immense natural wonder, The Loch Ness 360 Challenge can't fail to be an event that leaves a lifelong impression on all those who take part. The event is split into 5 different challeges over the course of three days comprising three separate marathons, one ultra-marathon and even a mountain bike challenge.
